Gia's surgery

Dear Mum,

Tomorrow Gia is getting his heart surgery.

The freaky thing is, is that the surgery is done through both his legs, and it was "supposedly" said that they are going to put a tube and camera up his large vessel in his leg (kinda) slide it up to his heart to do the surgery.

When I found out about how it was done, the first thought that came to my mind was you. You had a heart and lung machine attached to one of your legs when you were fighting for your life. And during the process your heart stopped beating. I wonder when they were giving you a series of shocks, whether your soul has already exited your body and you were able to see what they were doing to you.

But I have more confidence in Gia's procedure this time. His doctors and nurses were very kind and nice, and during his blood taking procedure a clown came up to him and did a few funny tricks, which made him less scared than usual.

I am glad it is not an open heart surgery. I remember my uncle going through the surgery and all that pain he had to suffer post-surgery during his recovery stage. All the morphine that was injected into him. Imagine an 11 year old going through that :(

Today after his "Pre-procedure" at the Royal Children's hospital my dad and I took him out to Costco and the beach, so he could try to forget about his operation and relax a bit.

Hope everything goes well tomorrow. Mum look after him from above :)

Love always,

Your daughter Anna ♥
